About Roots Roots was founded by Michael Budman and Don Green, two city kids who met at summer camp in Algonquin Park, where they first fell in love with the ideals and beauty of Canada. It was at a little cabin that they created Roots, inspired by the experience of travelling into the heart of Canada's wilderness. In 1973, Roots launched its first product, the popular “negative heel” shoe, which then launched a line of original leather goods that have remained at the heart of the Roots brand. Redeem a Roots eGift Card This Roots eGift Card is only for use in Canada. It is redeemable in-store for merchandise at participating Roots retail locations in Canada, or it can be used on the Canadian website for Roots, found at roots.com/ca. Each time you use this eGift, the amount of your purchase will be deducted from the remaining balance until it reaches zero, with any excess purchase price still payable using another method of payment at the time of purchase.
